Chip Shop-Style Tartare Sauce – Nicky’s Kitchen Sanctuary

Must Try

This simple tartare sauce is tangy and creamy with a bit of bite from the gherkins.I absolutely love to serve this up with crispy fried fish and chips!

This recipe is an essential addition to any chippy feast. A super quick and easy recipe that leaves you with a velvety and tangy sauce!

It takes less than 5 minutes to whip up and is just SO good.

📋 Ingredients

Mayo – You can of course swap out the full-fat mayonnaise for your favourite lower-fat mayo.

Mini Gherkins – You can use any type of gherkin/cornichans/burger-pickles you like. We opted for mini gherkins because I always have them on hand.

How do you make tartare sauce?

Full recipe with detailed steps in the recipe card at the end of this post.

This recipe is SUPER simple, all you need to do is mix the ingredients together and that’s it!

Pro Tip

You can use the amount of lemon juice to control the consistency and tartness of the tartare sauce. Add mode to create a thinner, more tangy version, or less for a thicker, creamier tartare sauce.

This is one of my favourite side dishes to fish and chips!
